Looking at all of these beautiful stair photos reminded me of one of my favorite books - The Architecture of Happiness by Alain de Botton. The novel proposes that the architecture that surrounds you every day is directly correlated with your emotions, happiness, and general quality of life. I read this book because I knew I wasn't the only one out there who spent hours gawking in wonder at the steps of the cathedrals in Madrid, mesmorized by the lines of towering structures within the Roman Ruins, or maybe a little in awe at the way the ceilings of your own home peak. This in turn reminds me of some photos that still inspire me that I took almost two years ago in Italy...
