I look frumpy in tshirts, but that doesn't mean I don't own a million of them like everyone else. So, I started to think of ways to reconstruct the ones I really liked into more flattering styles. I learned the basics of reworking a tshirt from my good friend, Yana (Supayana) about five years ago. I tend to go through incredibly productive periods where I feel motivated and start to really progress in my skill. And then, due to one excuse or another, go through two month slumps without touching the sewing machine. Luckily, this month I happen to be in the productive part of the vicious cycle! I have been feeling particularly inspired by zippers as of late, and happened to have one sitting around, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. The tshirt is from a fantastic North Carolina-based band called The Avett Brothers - they're one of my favorites.
Originally, I wasn't happy with the simplistic nature of the v-neck i'd created for this shirt, so I ended up re-vamping a day later, into a sweetheart top. It turned out exactly as I'd hoped!
Next up, I'm going to tackle an XXL thrift store tshirt...zipper-front dress?!
