Birthday Weekend

In past years, I haven't made a fuss over my birthday. But this year was a big one, one that deserved some celebration for sure! And I'm not gonna lie - this has been a perfect birthday weekend. Relaxing at home, reading & writing, spending quality time with Matt and the cats, sleeping, hiding from the heat wave, and eating a ton of incredible food! My birthday started with a day off from work and breakfast in bed.

Breakfast in bed, thanks to Matt.

The string of awesomeness continued throughout yesterday and today. Here are some highlights...

Misu boy (and his giant mittens) kept me company as I blogged.

In a random pickling fetish moment, I decided it'd be a good idea to pickle radishes. Semi-fail because they smell like farts, but somehow still taste good?

This is our friend Olivia's FIRST-EVER attempt at owl latte art. I loved my birthday Harry Potter owl :)

We did "facetime" with our eight-year-old niece, Gracie. This was her journal entry at the end of the day. Classic!

And then, as if my birthday could get any better, Matt took me to the Chef's Table at Luma. I wore my twirly party dress, we opened a birth-year champagne and shared it with our favorite waiter Tim and others, Pedro did a birthday dance for me, Lori bought me a girly drink, and Derek and the rest of the amazing chefs made us some of the tastiest food we've had there. We were there for a solid four hours, and it was such a blast! Hands down best staff (and food) of any restaurant - there's simply no place else I'd rather celebrate!

It's hard to comprehend that I still have an entire day off tomorrow to round out my much-needed long weekend. My plan to bring incredible birthday times full-circle before going back to work on Monday? EASY:
